Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. Parents named her Winona after the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz' father was an author and editor along with Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder's mother and father have both been Jewish. Ryder believes herself to being Jewish. Ryder has also a half-sister named Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger brother is Uria. Ryder and her family relocated to California's Mendocino County at the age of seven. Ryder was just seven. They didn't have electricity. Ryder was a voracious bookworm and would spend her days studying books since she had no television. Ryder began taking acting classes when Ryder was 12years old and was enrolled in classes at the American Conservatory Theatre. In 1986, she got her first big-screen role in the film Lucas she was only fifteen years old. Ryder was subject to bullying in high school. Her hope was that acting could bring change. But it wasn't to come to happen. But she pushed on with her goals. Beetlejuice, a 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first major breakthrough. Ryder continued to play successful roles in a variety of films. In 1993, she was nominated twice to win Academy Awards. One of was for her performance as a character in The Age of Innocence.
