April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball athletes to win medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian and will join her at Tokyo. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. As she is 39 and has a long way to go, this could be her last chance. Still confident nevertheless. If we perform at our very best or even if we do well, I believe we can get that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Also, I am going to rely on a bit of good luck. Ross was born in 1982, and grew up within Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began competing in athletics at the Newport Harbor High School. While at Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous different sports. In her time as a college athlete, she also played indoor track and volleyball. But she stood out during this game. In her high school volleyball career as per her college bio, she was a middle-blocker, outside-hitter and setter. The results of her efforts were acknowledged by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National players of the year. In 2000, she received an Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross Klineman and Ross may be working on a project in 2017, but Ross was already an established athlete at the beach prior to when they came together. The fact is, she's won multiple big tournaments and one of them was a renowned volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 until 2013. She also worked with Klineman as well as herself. Kessy was Ross's teammate at the World Championships in 2009. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they won a gold medal. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor won gold, beating them to it. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she announced her retirement. They both went on to take home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross began her collegiate professional career playing for the Trojans of USC following her high school days. The Trojans were a few years away from when Ross went to the sand and turned professional. The time she spent at USC was one to remember. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman of the Year, and was also an All-American. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. In her sophomore season she was devastated by a personal loss, yet was able to be named an All-American. In the two years she played for the Trojans they helped win consecutive championships. The achievements of each individual have established her status as a legend in volleyball. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross took a course in international relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie did not get to see her daughter ascend to the highest levels of beach volleyball stardom. Ross's mother died of cancer of the breast when she was a sophomore at USC. She continues to hold her lost parent near and dear. Margie is a source of inspiration throughout her life, as well as on the beach.
