Mohr began her career as a glamorous model at the age of 24 old. She did so on the advice of a UGA friend of hers. She was crowned Miss Columbus in 1985 after having a crown kiss, and beating her competitors. The victory allowed for her to participate in Miss Georgia. Miss Georgia contest in June 1985. The tournament was won by her also on the 22nd of June, 1985. Mohr was chosen to represent Georgia as well as the state of Georgia, at Miss America's 1986 pageant held at Atlantic City New Jersey. Mohr was, however, a Top-10 finalist in the Miss America national title.
